The Annie Sloan Wall Paint Range

Annie has just launched a new range of her amazing wall paint. You can now choose from 32 colours with a big emphasis on the neutrals. I’m sure you will agree with us that they work beautifully. We will be showcasing them over the next while and you can pop in to discuss colour schemes and choose samples.to try at home. The formulation differs from Chalk Paint in that it offers one-step durability and wipeability without the need to apply Wax or Lacquer; but it still retains the intensity of pigment and the soft matt finish of Chalk Paint™

These are just a few of the subtle neutrals which would create a perfect backdrop for any style really.

These bold guys would be an amazing feature wall, or add power to a high ceilinged room.

Perhaps a more subdued palette is in your mind? Above you can see Original and Old White paired with Olive to create a passive mood.

A little about the paint itself. As you would expect Annie has produced a range of paint where the pigment quality is superb, allowing her to create colours with real depth to them. The coverage is great - allowing you to paint around 36 square metres with one tin. We recommend using a brush rather than roller. it’s quick, easy and cutting in is a dream! However if your preference is for a roller then choose a sponge one as they are not so extravagant with their wastage and create a smoother finish.

Here’s a whacky sketch Annie did to suggest some colour combos for your painted furniture to show off against your wall colour.

ANNIE SLOAN’S TOP TIPS FOR HOW TO APPLY A WALL PAINT SAMPLE (thanks Annie!)

Don’t paint colours too close together. As Annie frequently preaches, using different colours in close proximity will highlight different tones within those colours. While this is very useful when building a palette, it can be distracting and confusing when you’re pairing two similar shades together to see which you prefer.

1. Observe in different lights. Make sure to review how the colour looks first thing in the morning, in the afternoon, and once darkness falls.

2. Paint patches on different walls. If you’re intending to paint an entire room one colour, you will want to see how the shade you choose works in darker corners as well as on window-facing walls.

3. Create a room or home scheme by drawing a floorplan then painting testers on to the paper to get a real feel of how the new colour refresh in one room will impact the rest of your home.

4. Make sure your test areas are a decent size, we recommend that they’re at least 30cm x 30cm. One of our 120ml tester size paint tins will cover just over 1.3m squared.

5. Take photographs. How your interior looks on camera is increasingly important. This will also help you to review and compare different colours during the selection stage of the process.
