You know what these two Mid-Century pieces looked like before we started work on them, so here is the after. We used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ colour Aubusson with clear wax over to protect the surface and give a lustrous sheen to both pieces. The addition of two cute brown ceramic handles on the sliding doors, bring it into current times and by adding the metal hairpin legs we created stand alone furniture. It works so well.

Oh, and the little label there inside the open drawer, is holding a sewing needle we found inside. It is a reminder of the history of the piece as it belonged to our customer’s mother. We even restored the original Sold Sticker we discovered on the back. Now there is an enduring connection between two generations. Lovely, we so enjoyed making this happen.

Now this was fun. We were asked to create magic with a little white bedside drawer unit. Having discovered what styles and images appealed to our client, we set about creating this whimsical design. Decoupage, image transfer and stencilling featured heavily over layer upon layer of base colours. See the little stencilled sand dollars peeping out of the side of the drawers!

This is a perfect way to keep within a manageable budget but still produce a unique design.

Here again, a somewhat plain piece of furniture is given the once over to create a lively looking combination of colours brightening up this bedroom. The tones we chose for the base colours and stencil work on this trunk, tie in with the overall colour scheme. This unites the design elements in the room to produce a coordinated plan where the trunk became the protagonist and all others serve to complement it. The bedheads and picture frame have been painted using the same paints, leaving some of the wood its natural colour.

A more sophisticated look was required for these two pieces. Family heirlooms but with a gentle nudge into today’s world. We used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ colour Chicago Grey for a neutral look to blend in with the surrounding colour scheme.

A playful take on a famous painter’s style! It’s all in the flick of the paintbrush. We have used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Graphite and Old White, alternating the base colour across the front, top and sides to add balance to the design. So a fairly ordinary chest of drawers now stands proud in its space.

The close up images of these two bespoke mirror frames give you an idea of what we might create especially for you. Working in collaboration with Leigh Picture Framers, allows us to create a bespoke mirror any size from an extensive choice of untreated wood mouldings. This includes a range of ornate resin frames.

Sometimes, just a bold choice of colour is all you need to show a piece of furniture off to its best advantage.

Our customer snapped this bedside table up for a real bargain and by electing to use Annie Sloan’s wonderful Napoleonic Blue Chalk Paint™ for the sole colour, with no further ado we transformed it into this proud bedside table.

This chest of drawers was commissioned for a bedroom where the mood created should reflect the style of the owner. We chose this colour combination and technique as it was to be repeated on the bedhead and two bedside tables. As the room was quite small, we did not want to overpower the space by dominating colours but did want to make a bit of a statement for the client. After all, it was a bespoke collection designed especially for them.

This bedhead and matching bedside table were commissioned by a client whose brief was to be create something simple and whimsical for a guest bedroom. We used a combination of stencils and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™

The brief for this bedhead was: something that looks as if the client had found a screen in a Moroccan Souk, with those beautiful colours and motifs. So we set about making separate screens that do actually hinge together. Then the design work began. Each face has a different design that once assembled and hung, all pull together to create the completed piece. Once again, with the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ palette to draw from, we scrubbed and rubbed away at stencils until we were happy with the end product. Our client was thrilled with the result too!

Designed to Match Your Space Featured in our blog, is a peep at us setting about a project or two.

Our client asked us to create a fun backing board to disguise the cupboard behind this bed. It is in a children’s bedroom and we could design something light-hearted and informal. So we set to work with decoupage papers, paint and pencil to create an impression of this bookshelf, complete with the naughty family cat hiding behind the pile of books!
