Give me a day of your time and I will teach you an awful lot about painting a project. We begin with ideas and prep followed by paint finishes in the morning. In the afternoon we move onto more elaborate techniques to decorate and finish your work. Thus making a proper job of your work that folk will envy!

We start at 10.30 to cover the basics of your project plan. How to prep where necessary. Some colour mixing and design ideas. Then sleeves up and we set to work.

It’s good to understand all that Chalk Paint will let you do before you decide on the finish you are going to work on. We explore all from a light washed (sometimes know as limed) look to a deep textured finish (great for disguising dodgy surfaces!) Sometimes adding a second colour for a two tone colour layered look.

Once the painting is done we look at ways to use Annie Sloan Finishing Wax to both extend a design finish and protect your work. So that is the Clear, Dark, Black and White Wax.

The afternoon brings some good ideas to decorate your piece, creating stunning finishes that others have to buy in the shops! These include a start on gilding work using metal leaf and gilding waxes How to apply printed images subtly to look like a hand painted design. A simple approach to stencil work. Some ageing techniques which give your work extra depth. This versatility means that you are able to recreate a design you might have spotted and enjoyed. The techniques can be worked on pretty much any surface from gift cards to a full blown chest of drawers.

We do all the paintwork on wooden boards for you to take home. Some of my students were so pleased with them they hung them on the wall like a piece of artwork!

There will be a short break to refresh and recharge so bring along your packed lunch!. Tea, coffee, biscuits and cake are served.

All materials are included so just come along ready to enjoy a day of painting! The cost is £135.00 plus we offer a discount on all Annie Sloan paints and products to our course attendees. Spaces are very restricted so that means plenty of time for questions
