This Annie Sloan with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Decoupage Paper shows some of the illustrations of fauna from the RHS Lindley Collections. It copies hand-coloured engraved pages from a popular 1819 publication showing three beautiful songbirds nesting amongst foliage. Here we’ve featured Tomtits, Redpolls, and Pied Finches against a backdrop of Old White (available as both Chalk Paint® and Annie Sloan Wall Paint. 

Background Info: *George Brookshaw’s “Six Birds, Accurately Drawn and Coloured after Nature, with Full Directions for the Young Artist”, designed as a companion to the “Treatise on Flower Painting”. Each colour plate has a matching uncoloured plate so the reader can copy the colour illustration. Brookshaw (1751-1823) was an artist and teacher of flower painting who exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1819.
